succeeding/success

Dear members

"While not downplaying the importance of hard work and succeeding in your chosen career field, the old proverb is one we should all pay attention to."

It seem to me that the word of "succeeding" on the sentence above should or could replace to "success"

Is that correct?

Thanks

Both words work. This is because "success in your chosen career field" and "succeeding in your chosen career field" are both correct noun phrases.
