Subway train - a or the?

Hi,
I take the subway to work. My coworkers know that. I show up at work and say, "Hey, guess who I spotted on a/the subway train?"

Either article is plausible, is it not? I could use "a" because one subway train is not distinguishable from another, but I could also use "the" because my coworkers will then know that it's the subway train I took to work. Right?
