Substitute for 'so'

Hello,

X and Y were part of the same group - and so if I shared my secret with X, he'd definitely tell Y.

Is the above okay, and if not, is there some other word instead of 'so'?

Thanks so much.

It's OK, but you don't need 'and 'because 'so' is a conjunction. I'd also tighten up the punctuation. The dash serves no real purpose.
