Substitute for a word

"Mrs. Williams found it ironic that her twelve-year-old son, who made all A’s on his report card, was so obtuse at home, apparently unable to follow her most basic instructions concerning such commonsense matters as tidiness."

My question is,
what difference will it make if I substitute the word "concerning" here with "regarding"?
My opinion is that regarding will be too formal in this case.
