Let's say I was someone else. (but I'm not)
Let's say I'd been born in another country. (but I wasn't).

Is this correct?

Top answer

Yes. In the first sentence, the subjunctive form would be "Let's say I were someone else". "were" is more formal than "was", but the meaning is essentially the same.
