Subjunctive

In your speech, make sure you can be seen as well as heard. Don’t hide behind your sheets or the overhead projector. It is important that every listener feels/feel you are talking to him or her personally.

To me, 'feel' is correct. One of my native friends believes that this case is not subjunctive. Look at her claim:

I do not think this sentence functions as a direct instruction (That happens with “Don’t hide behind…”. This sentence is just a comment on why the speaker should remain visible to the audience.
