Subjunctive?

0Please tell me if this is the subjuctive mood in action. I thought the subjunctive of this nature usually have some informal attributes in front of them like 'I demand' or 'I ask you' and others.02br

001. Do you need to use a comma before this conjuntion? I think not. 01u00The sentence need not 02u00have a comma in front of the conjunction 'but' because they share the same subject.02br

002. Look at that dog, it looks sad and hungry. Jim, why don't feed that dog? You have dog food in your house? Don't you think he needs to be fed? 02br

00 Paul, 01u00I think it (ie, the feeding) need not be02u00 becaue I am displining it for biting a neighbor's leg this morning.0-

Hi, CB.

I agree that those sentences were awkward in terms of their structure. I felt some awkwardness when I was writing them but I felt they sound more literary and seem to add more pizzazz that I wanted at that time.

Could they be better written like this?

1. The sentence doesn't need to have a comma in front of the conjunctin 'but' because they share the same subjec

1. ... before (the conjuction) 'but' because ...
The rest is bad as there is no plural antecedent for they.

2. Paul, I don't think the dog needs to be fed ... ... for biting a neighbor in the leg ...

Hi Cool Breeze,

I wonder what the differences between 'He need not go there' and 'he doesn't need to go there' are .

Thank you.

Best wishes,
