Would you check out if this sound of the blank is right? I can't see what the blank is. Somebody say, "It's "nothing", right ? But I think the blank is 'would". because 'be' is next to ... I'm gonna attach the sound of it.

". whether it be ..." is correct English. 'be' is the present subjunctive form of the verb BE.
Incidentally, even if 'would be' had been the correct form, you cannot say that you heard something that was not there merely because you think it should have been there.
