Subject/verb Agreement

Hi Everyone,

Would you use 'is' or 'are' in the following sentence:

The next four books are an in-depth study of coral reefs.

I still get confused as to whether the main part of the subject is - the next four - or is it 'books'.

Thanks,

Cup cake I still get confused as to whether the main part of the subject is - the next four - or is it 'books'. Does it make a difference? 'the next four' is plural, and 'books' is also plural, so your choice of 'are' is correct either way.
