Subject + Verb + S question

Hi,

Is the following sentence correct?

- displaying the ratings do give users greater confidence in the information.

Or should it the "do" be replaced with "does"? I am unsure, because I want to put emphasis on the "do", and it doesn't sound wrong to me.

If this is a sentence, it should begin with a capital letter.

The subject of your sentence is the gerund "displaying," which is singular, and should take a singular verb, "does."

"Displaying does give."

You must resist the impulse to take "ratings" as the subject. ("ratings do give.")
