Subject verb agreement sample 4

Hi Everyone,

I saw this sentence on a website, and wondering whether 'is' should be 'are'. The sentence is:

'Group bookings and functions is also available.'

I know that the word 'group' dictate a single verb, but in this case, isn't the sentence talking about two things: bookings AND functions?

I always have an issue with this. I personally don't think that the standard rule should apply in every case. Maybe I'm wrong...not sure.

Thanks
Miss * wondering *.

Yippee!!

By the way, what if the sentence was this:

' Group bookings is also available.'

Can it still be 'are' and not 'is'?

I know that 'group' dictates, but it's really about the bookings; not a group.
This is why this always does my head in.

Hi Cup cake,
Even without the word "functions", one would need to use the word "are".
You can have one group booking or several group bookings.
As soon as you have more than one, you need to use 'are"
So the sentence "Group bookings are also available" is also correct.
