Subject verb agreement sample 3

Hi Everyone,

Can I please get clarity about the following sentence:

'The lack of time, as well as price is the main barrier to many students wanting to socialise.'

Shouldn't this sentence read, '...are the main barriers...?'

Thanks

The lack of time, as well as price, is the main barrier to many students wanting to socialise. "is" is correct because it relates to "lack of time". There should be a comma after "price".

OK, I get this one now. Thank you Mr. M.

I was thinking that 'is' and 'are' are opposite by the token that single is the opposite of plural. That was what I was thinking.
