Subject verb agreement

Just want to knw if this sentence is correct-

Two cups of milk is left.

If we ask a question- How much milk is left an d we know that we have two cups of milk. so, how do we answer that keeping milk as the subject.

This is my take. Anonymous Two cups of milk is left. This sentence is a grammatical trap in my opinion because strictly speaking, " two cups of milk " takes a plural verb.

Milk in the amount of two cups (but probably in one container) is left. But two cups, each containing milk, are left.

So it depends on which of these you mean. From your post, I assume you mean the former, so use is.
