Subject Verb Agreement

Does the word "livestock" require the verb "is" or "are" ?

"All premises upon which livestock are kept shall be clean and sanitary..." sounds right to me.

Does the word "livestock" require the verb "is" or "are" ?

"All premises upon which livestock are kept shall be clean and sanitary..." sounds right to me.

Sounds fine to me, too, in the same way that you would say '. . . cattle . . are kept . . .'

Oh, thanks much. That's logical. The doc I'm reading also had "... Is the livestock kept in an area of less than 3 square acres?" and that somehow sounded okay to me too...
