Subject and pronoun agreement

It's always confusing if I have to use plural or singular after plural subjects. For example,

Googld and Yahoo are quite different in their homepage( or home pages?)

Another difference between Googld and Yahoo is their search engines( or search engines?)

They should be responsible for thier life( or lives?)

  • Use either one.
  • The plural is good because both have a search engine and thus there are two of them.
  • ) The plural is usually better if the reference is to each person's life: Two sailors lost their lives.
