Drizzt is the drow warrior/dark elf, so which work option should I use to make sure this sentence is clear? Barrabus knew of Drizzt’s prowess and believed that if he could get the drow warrior to fight Alegni, (he/the dark elf) could kill him.

I think I would try to avoid this ambiguity by rephrasing, for example, Barrabus knew of Drizzt’s prowess and believed that if he could get the drow warrior to fight Alegni, he could bring about Alegni's death. In this case "he" would refer to Barrabus.
