Stupid or naive

Hi,

What are the differences between stupid and naive?

Top answer

Well, I think everyone gets the idea of stupid, so I go for naive. Naive is to describe someone who either lacks experience in certain matters (mostly social, political, or concerning conflict of interests) or thinks much too lightly on certain subjects(underestimating the complexity of the subject). Many times I associate naive with innocence and (young) age.

  • Think IQ and EQ.
  • genes or attitude) Naivete --> low EQ (can be improved/eliminated with time and experience) Edit PS The good way of seeing naive is "purity of the mind" The bad way of putting it is "lacking the ability to see the world as is - dirty, corrupted, and interest oriented"

a person can be naive if they don't trust their instincs and judgment, so they end up making a wrong choice. a stupid person just hurts people and makes bad moves.

naivity can result from lack of experience, while stupitity from lack of comon sense?

it is what i think...

A naive mistake is one that you have made for the first time. A stupid mistake is when you make it again.

AnonymousA naive mistake
I think "naive" applies to people, not to things like mistakes. Doesn't it?
