Stunned

Our two dogs sat motionless by the door, stunned by the loud sound of pounding rain.

Is "stunned" a natural word to use here?

My problem is that when I look up "stunned" it says "so shocked that one is temporarely unable to react". The last part of it is fine, but I feel that "shocked" is a much stronger meaning than what I intend. Slightly scared maybe, but mostly just captivated and made motionless by the loud sound. Would another word be better to mean that or would you stay with "stunned"? Thank you.
