Stun growth development

How would a native speaker rewrite this whole sentence?

If you don't let your baby crawl on the ground or attempt to crawl you will be stunning /hold back his growth development and will be behind learning to use his or her legs.

Thanks

I see, thank you

If you have time could you tell me if the whole sentence makes sense? Is it correct? How would you write it? What about hold back? Is 'behind' used correctly?

Thank you

I don't find these baby-related questions interesting.

You can repost if you wish to.
Don't forget to use the verb stunt.
