Stuffing is a food, pretty much as described in your example sentence, with variations in the precise ingredients used, but usually based around breadcrumbs with other ingredients added for flavor. It may be used to fill the cavity in something else being cooked, such as a whole chicken, or it may be prepared and served as a side dish. The word can also be used to describe the filling of a pillow, cushion, mattress etc.
