Actually, "and stuff" is just a filler phrase. It's not a verb, and doesn't really mean much.

Examples:

1. We went to the party. We ate and drank and stuff.

> this means you did some eating and drinking, amongst other things

2. The volcano erupted and stuff. It was messy.

Hello Noname

Thank you for correcting my mistake! I'm a learner from Japan and it is my first time to come across this kind of 'stuff' usage. Does it mean something like 'such-like'? I'm wondering how come 'stuff' comes to be used in that way. Could you explain more about it if possible?

"And stuff" here most likely refers to "and such". Like "that stuff", used as a slang.

In BrE, 'and stuff' is commonly used to mean 'etc.', 'and so on', 'and other things
of that kind', and stuff.

It's a very informal and colloquial phrase. Using it too much can make you appear unsophisticated, much like the word 'like'.

The trick is not to deny any use, Paco but to find a proper balance. 'stuff' is an extremely natural and linguistically efficient word, but like anything it can be overdone. You probably aren't familar with 'thingamajig' or 'wachamacallit' but these too are words that are really helpful for ESLs and ENLs.

Remember informal and colloquial is what we all use for the majority of our langu
