Study abroad scholorship. Please correct if there is any mistakes

Growing up I despised going to school, I was always questioning everything. "Why do I have to learn Geometry, Why do I have to take a chemistry class, Why do I have to critique writing in English class?" The biggest question of them all, I questioned why my parents were so hard on me academically? Up until High School I have always believed I needed to get good grades for my parents and in return I could get extrinsic rewards.

Unfortunately, extrinsic rewards are a terrible motivator because it makes learning a chore instead of enjoyment. I was one of those kids in High School who had no idea what I wanted to do in my future so I took as many electives as possible to fulfill my curiosity. Throughout High School I took Business, Engineering, and Health courses as electives to help discover what I wanted to do in life, but what I actually learned is the discovery of myself.

I discovered that I was an active kid and my curiosity does not have to be a weakness, but my greatest strength. My curiosity help made me realize that learning does not have to be about getting good grades or getting something in return, learning in itself is a reward. What I learned through the experiences of my great teachers was that each career field has a lot of potential to make money, but the only way to enjoy life is to find a job that you personally enjoyed. I had interest in all three fields, but in the end I choose to pursue being a physical therapist because it fit my personality the best. For example, I would enjoy making diagnostics on patients because it would stimulate my mind, I am a great listener and I have the passion to never stop learning which is crucial in the medical field. I have always believed the moment you stop learning is the moment you stop living life to the fullest.

My curiosity has now brought me to go study abroad in Spain to learn Spanish. I am currently enrolled in the Texas Tech Servile program in Spain. I have already taken three years of Spanish in High School, but I do not believe I learned to speak Spanish fluently because I was never surrounded by Spanish in the United States. I believe when I am in Spain I will be immersed in Spanish and will learn to speak Spanish fluently with the locals. On this trip I want to experience Spanish culture and traditions to give me more perspective in life. Giving me a new perspective in life will help me long term because when I become a physical therapist, I would want to relate to as many patients as possible. Going to Spain will also help enrich my Spanish and give me the ability to talk to so many more people in this world.

I would like to receive this scholarship because I am a hard worker and maintained a 3.4 overall GPA at Texas Tech. I am also very involved with my community at Texas Tech. For an example, I have been involved in RHA, APO, racquetball club, ballroom dancing club and volunteered at a physical therapy clinic.
