Hi everyone! Could you please tell me whether these 3 sentences are correct, and if not, what should be changed in them:

The studies of the light weakly bound nuclei have become more intense due to the significant development of radioactive beam facilities.

They have different absolute values, which is suprising in the first instance.

They have different absolute values, which is surprising in the first instance.

Do I really have to hyphenate? I thought that if the first word was an adverb ending in -ly or very, then in these instances, we do not have to hyphenate unit modifiers.
