Student’s Statement
-----------------------
I, have involved in the computer technology since High school. While I was in school, I have participated in to several Electronics and Computer exhibitions and the exhibits were recognized by many Government Inspectors of schools’ academic evaluations Department as creative and profitable.
After I left school in 1998 I’ve started to study computer programming in “Beeta Computer, The school of computer studies”. I was completely involved with projects as apart of the course and able to grant two programming language diplomas in “Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0” and “Turbo Pascal 7.0” .After two months of unforgettable interviews I would say I was delighted to get a job offer from AICT (Academy Of Information and Communication Technology) of Sri Lanka. I’ve joined AICT as a Trainee computer instructor and I had the chance to work along with the company’s Chief Hardware engineer and gain knowledge in Computer Hardware. Furthermore, in addition to my Teaching on Programming languages, in my latter time with the company I also worked as an additional Computer Hardware Technician.
After employed for almost 3 years in AICT in October 2002, I resigned from the company to Do advanced study in Computer programming and enrolled to do “Honors Diploma in E-Technology computing” at NIIT. During the one year course I was able to gather knowledge of new technologies some are relatively new to the world and some are new to Sri Lanka. During this course I understood that my enthusiasm is more into computer Programming than Hardware engineering.
By the completion of the course I have become a “NIIT certified Objected Oriented Application Programmer” and many companies started to send me Job offers.
But my focus was to Work as a programmer in the “Central Bank of Sri Lanka” (Where my father works as a ). The reason that I want to join Central Bank is that, in the IT field of Sri Lanka, the most Secured Security Systems and software are implemented in the Central Bank than any other Government / Private body and I believe it’s a best place to practice my programming skills. And encouragingly they are looking for quality programmers who are in the degree levels particularly ones who are graduated from Foreign Institutions in Foreign Countries, e.g.: UK, USA, Australia, New Zealand and recently their demand for computer professionals who are graduated from Universities and Polytechnics in New Zealand
e.g.: University of Auckland, Canterbury University and Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology (CPIT) in particular, started to rise. Unfortunately the qualifications that I have at the moment are not enough to get employments in the Central Bank. Therefore the bachelor’s degree which I’m planning to do in CPIT in New Zealand will become a huge advantage and a Qualification for me to seek employment as a programmer in the “Central Bank of Sri Lanka”.
