Some people believe that students should be taught academic knowledge instead of being taught social skills such as cooking or dressing. While I accept that academic knowledge is important, I also believe that social skills still play an unchangeable role. On the one hand, learning academic knowledge brings us a number of benefits. Nowadays, qualification is used for measuring other status and it is believed that you can easily be employed if you have a high qualification. That's why our parents spend a huge money on educational services. If we limit the number of compulsory subject lesson at school, it will take us a long time to find alternative ways of employment. On the other hand, social skills play an important role. Being taught fundamental skills at a very young age brings a lot of benefits to children.A student who is taught social skills will become more independent and self-reliant. When they grow older, they can easily get used to a mature lifestyle. They will be able to live alone without the daily support from their family. In conclusion, although it is essential to learn academic knowledge, it seems to me that the benefit of being taught social skills is undeniable.
