stuck in reverse

Hi,

What does the phrase "stuck in reverse" mean? Can somebody be stuck in reverse?

If a car is stuck in reverse, it means you can't get it out of that gear. It will only go backwards.

I suppose you could say this figuratively, eg 'In my English class, I am stuck in reverse', meaning that you can't stop forgetting everything you have

I agree with Clive. It has also happend with me. Many a times, my car gets stuck in reverse gear.

like going backward.,it is like you can't seem to move ahead.
