Hello,
I can't realize the structure of this sentence:
Explanation, itself, was to be a subsequent matter of interpreting the results, using the alternative-to-null hypothesis, given an achieved ‘significance level’ (expressing the probability that the outcome occurred ‘by chance’ or not).
I have problem with "using the alternative-to-null hypothesis, given an achieved significance level".
Explanation is a subsequent matter of interpreting and using the alternative-to-null hypothesis and given an achieved significance level; or
Explanation is a subsequent matter of interpreting that uses the alternative-to-null hypothesis?
would you help me? thanks.
e. less credence is placed on low-significance-level results).

The way I understand it, "using the alternative-to-null hypothesis" describes the way in which the interpretation is done, and "given an achieved significance level" means that the achieved significance level is taken into account in the interpretation (i.e. less credence is placed on low-significance-level results).
