Stripe vs. streak

Him,

what is the difference between using "streak" and "stripe"? Any difference in meaning?
Can I use both in the following example?

A streak / stripe of lightning struck on a tree.

Thank you in advance!

Top answer

A streak of lightning struck a tree. Besides the fact that 'a streak of lightning' is fixed phrase, stripes are calm and sedentary designs, while streaks are impulsive, irregular occurrences.
