string of expletives

She dropped the book on her foot and let out a row/string of expletives.

I know epletive means (swear word).

But I don't understand the meaning of (let out a row/string of expletives) sentence.

Also, here dropped means (she kept the book on her foot) or (the book has fallen by her to her foot)

Could you explain it, please?
