String attached

Does this "string attached" the phrase has a meaning seperately? (is this late sentence I wrote correct? Emotion: embarrassed )
I could't find any proper meaning for that whole sentence.

The joke in the comic strip has changed the idiom. Instead of "no strings attached," it uses "a string attached."
It is part of the joke, kind of a play on the language.
