Also, a porch is usually a very small structure. It's hard to see how you would stretch your legs in one. (You could do this literally, but "to stretch one's legs" usually means to take exercise by walking.)

suppose you have got a pair of chairs and with your friend you want to sit and make easy talk,chat etc.while doing this you lay your legs or stretch your legs.As if you are putting or sinking into water by the river or lake.
