Stressed meter in verse

I am currently writing a picture book in verse. One line of a stanza is causing much STRESS!

I need a meter of /-/-/. Unfortunately, to date I have only come up with /---/ (reaching for the cows) for said line. Can I call out "for" as a stressed meter?

I'm not sure what you're asking for. Sometimes an unstressed syllable will pass, but if your looking for a clean foot, "for" won't work as a stressed syllable. "Looking up and down" would be an example of what you seek, I believe.

Walk behind the cows? Running past the cows?
