Stress and prononciation

am trying out words and marking the syllables that take the main stress like this:
can you please take a look at a couple of these and tell me if i am right. i tried these two methods of putting two fingers on your neck to get the correct answer and also tried putting a paper on my mouth to hear the stress.
here goes:
hospital=o
allow=a
prediction=c
controversial=v or s
prefer=r
preference=c or e
hospital=o
photograph=g
photographic =c
photographer = a or e
record (noun)= c
record (verb)=d

thanks in advance for all your help
