01i00Do I have to stress the first word or the second word? 02br
02i
00I asked a few friends of mine from America and Canada. 02br
00One of them says I should stress the second word for words like washing machine or sleeping bag, because washing and sleeping are gerunds served as adjectives.02br
00One says I should stress the second when the first word is composed of two or more syllables.02br
00The other says it doesn't matter because English doesn't have tones as Chinese does.02br
00 I AM VERY CONFUSED!!02br
00Thanks for help! 0-
