Strength

I just read this sentence: "All his strength was being used trying to keep himself upright." Is that correct?

Or should it say one of the following?

"All his strength was being used to keep himself upright."

or

"All his strength was being used up trying to keep himself upright."

or

"All his strength was being used up to keep himself upright.
