Bums on the street still have a choice of either getting a job or going to a homeless shelter provided by the state government.

Is this sentence correct?

I would say: Bums on the street still have THE OPTION of getting a job or going to ... Some would say OPTION should be OPTIONS, since you're listing two options, but if you imagine THE OPTION OF inserted after the OR, you can see how OPTION makes sense too, I think.

Some would say OPTION should be OPTIONS, since you're listing two options, but if you imagine THE OPTION OF inserted after the OR, you can see how OPTION makes sense too, I think.
