streaming/placement

For many classes, students are grouped together based on similar academic performance, an approach called streaming.

HI,

Can I replace "streaming" in the above with "class placement" without making a change in meaning? Thanks.

Hi Angliholic, I really doubt it. "Class placement" is very vague and "streaming" is very specific. Unfortunately, the single sentence you quote doesn't tell you much.

  • It's also contrary to the practice of mixing all sorts together for social reasons.
