Hello
Could you please tell me what "strap up in a splint" means?
"She was using crutches as her right leg was strapped up in a splint"
My dictionary says "strap up" means "to wrap a leg, arm, or other part of the body in a bandage", but it seems to me that if you put your leg in a splint you don't need a bandage. How should I understand this phrase, then (providing that I'm right)?
Thank you
Splints are often held in place by wrappimg the leg up in a bandage, eg Look here. q=leg+in+splint+picture&tbm=isch&source=iu&ictx=1&fir=5n4cPJuYKkRKnM%253A%252CHrrHDQWO0GoNUM%252C_&usg=__kAeu4f8beqnEiKGhnWKerBO5zbQ%3D&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjH47acz7zaAhUKON8KHedxCSsQ9QEILzAD#imgrc=5n4cPJuYKkRKnM :
