stranger

One day you receive an instant message from a stranger and she introduces herself as a friend of some friends of yours. You do not pay too much attention to her. A couple of days later, she asks you to help her with her homework and because you have some free time, you give a helping hand. The correspondence goes on for another few days and she starts asking for your phone number. She seems like she genuinely wants to know you but you can't figure out why she has such a huge interest in you. You are certain she has never seen you in person. What does she want from you?

Are there any mistakes?
Thanks.

In such a situation why bother about grammatical mistakes? If I were you, I won't make any mistake in not giving my phone number. HAHA!!

Anyway, the passage has been well written, I would dare say. I don't see any mistakes. Let's see what the experts have to say.

[Is my sentence (... mistake in not giving ..) above correct? Or should it be mistake in giving?]
