Strange sentence

I´d like to know what the question "how does he like it?" mean. It refers to someone´s job. How should on answer it? I suppose it´s not a YES/NO question, but should the answer be "not very much", for example?

Hi Chris;

A question beginning with "how" is not a yes/no question. It is asking for information. Here is a conversation:

A: John started his new job a month ago. How does he like it?
B: I talked to John yesterday. He told me that he likes his coworkers, and the pay is good, but the job is very stressful and the hours are long.

The answer can be shorter, for example:
He likes it a lot.
He doesn't like it at all.
