Strange Interview Question

I had to answer some of these questions durning an online interview for a job. I find these question for strange, and I'm not sure what answer would be right for them. What type of answer for these question would improve my chance of getting a jobs.
As long as you get the job done, how you do it is your business.

In the PAST YEAR, how often have you refused to help a customer because he or she wanted something that was not your responsibility?

If you were the owner of a large store and you found out that an employee had stolen merchandise from you, would you fire him or her if the total amount taken was worth less than $5.00?

Avoid to justify stealing, that would be a good start IMO. Also could help if your questions show concern for customers. But if you have to ask..
