Storey vs story

Hi there,

My spellchecker shows a squiggle when i type out storey as in eighth storey of a building. Is the American spelling 'story' and British 'storey'??

The spellchecker shows the AmE spelling by default.

When using 'storey' in this context, story is American English and storey is British English - they are not interchangeable as they have different meanings in British English (story - as in a story book such as Harry Potter and storeyas in second storey of a building).
