Store staff at a bakery

What word would you use to refer to this type of staff?
They are not bakers, nor are they simply cashiers. Also I think help hand person and clerk are both awkward.

Top answer

Many establishments in the US now use the term "associates". In this case, I think that 'clerk' is fine.
