Grammar

Stopped by / paid a visit etc

Dear All,

What are natural ways to say that you stopped by a place? For example in the following sentence: Did they send you the tickets, or did you stop by to pick them up? Or in the sentence: Did you call the dentist to make an appointment, or did you stop by when you were on your way to the city centre?
Is this use of 'to stop by' natural? What are some alternatives?

Thanks a lot,

Buffett
