Stop goofing off at school, or you may have to repeat the year.

Stop goofing off at school, or you may have to repeat the year.
... or you may fail to pass the year.
... or you may not upgrade the year.

Do all of the above three sound right and mean pretty much the same? Thanks.

No; only the first is natural. The second hints at a non-native speaker, and the third is just wrong.

... or you may fail to pass the year. This is not idomatic.
... or you may not upgrade the year. I stay away from this one.

Hi,

A small extra comment.

Please note that 'goofing off' is a very informal piece of slang. It's OK to say to your classmates, but not to your teachers.

Hi,
If you want to be less informal, say eg he may have to repeat the year.
