Stomping ground

Hi.

"Notice how he[=Black] can move only on the 7th and 8th ranks, whereas White has the first six ranks as his stomping ground."

Could you suggest a synonym for 'stmping ground' to me, from:

http://thesaurus.com/browse/stamping+ground

(I don't know what sense applies)

Thanks in advance!

What does it imply? Could you please give me some examples of stomping grounds?

In modern, high-tech times, we could say that English Forums are our stomping grounds - a place where we spend a lot of time.

Knowledge of chess is not required to understand the books of GM Seirawan.

What about:

White is wondering in the first 6 ranks?

camped probably means 'staying' or 'stationary' or even 'trapped'.
wondering should probably be wandering.

Philip didn't specify. It might be assumed of those of us who spend a lot of time here that it's our free time. We wouldn't be here if we weren't free to be here.
