Stolen the thunder, Dug out, perfect foil

It was murder under artificial lights at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Deccan Chargers have stolen the thunder from the Royal Challengers! Symonds who was under fire from all quarters for his below par performance, just lit up the Chargers dug out with some scintillating strokeplay, and in the company of Suman who acted as the perfect foil, they have quickly erased the memories of the defeats that were piling up on them. Kumble and his boys must be gutted with this display and the points table has been throw wide open once again. Things are spiralling downwards for the Challengers and all of a sudden they aren't looking like a force that they were. Gilly would finally breath easy and the win still gives them some hope of qualifying for the semis should they win another 3 games from here. Having said that, RCB aren't completely out of the fray as well, they will now have to win 3 out of their remaining 4 games to make it through to the final four. Please explain to me the emboldened parts.
