My dream is to learn about Architecture, so I'd be stoked if that position opened up and will be on the first flight back to New York the next day!

Or

My dream is to learn about Architecture, so I'd be stoked if that position opens up and will be on the first flight back to New York the next day!

Which one is correct or could both be used? What's the difference between opened and opens?

So the second sentence(conditional I) basically has a more likely chance of happening than the first sentence(conditional II)?

But essentially they mean the same thing?
