1. What does this sentence mean:

"The sunset in the Sierra Guadarrama stirred up my soul."

2. And would this sentence make sense:

"Seeing that sunset lifted up my soul."

stirred up? I wouldn't have added 'up' there.

I guess it means the same as "stirred my soul", namely, caused me to feel a kind of spiritual emotion. It's a vague turn of phrase, mostly said to mean something equally vague about feeling
