Stillness of a spinning top

The stillness of a spinning top while in speeding motion is what is called 'sumkiri' in aikido language.

I don't understand why the writer uses 'stillness' when the top is spinning quickly. How could a top be still while spinning? Is the word wrong?

Are there any errors in the sentence?

Thanks for any advice.

No, it is a good zen-like word appropriate for an Asian martial art. Although the top is spinning furiously on its own axis, it appears motionless and is perfectly balanced. Relative to the 3 dimensions which it inhabits, it is going nowhere.
